Miley Cyrus and her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, made a joint $1 million pledge through the Miley Cyrus Foundation on October 10, 2026. They shared the lectern at the Downtown Women’s Center’s Every Woman Housed Gala at Vibiana in Los Angeles, where both were honorees. The pledge for Rosa’s Place honors Loretta, Tish’s mother and Miley’s grandmother.
Rosa’s Place will offer 97 studio apartments in Skid Row for women who’ve experienced homelessness and those who’ve survived domestic or gender-based violence. Each apartment will come furnished, with a private kitchen and bathroom.
Miley and Tish have already helped update homes and shared areas at the center’s existing downtown campus. They’re also advising on the interiors at Rosa’s Place, working together on how those future homes will feel.
Their working relationship reaches back to Hannah Montana. Recalling the move for the show in a July 13, 2020 interview, Tish said she found herself taking on Miley’s management and spent a stretch handling it on her own. In October 2009, she shared management responsibilities for her daughter’s career.
On March 23, 2026, Tish was at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles for the premiere of the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.
In her April 29, 2021 public post, Miley described a mother who also designed her interiors, managed her career and served as her role model. “No one I cherish more,” Miley wrote.
Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus divorced in 2022, after nearly 3 decades as a couple. Tish married Dominic Purcell in Malibu, with a small ceremony on August 19.
Miley was the one to walk Tish down the aisle. “To stand beside my mother and give her away to Dom is a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life,” Miley said of her part in the wedding.
Miley had put her admiration for Loretta into words years before the pledge. In an August 22, 2020 Instagram tribute, she called her grandmother “my inspiration and fashion icon” and praised her example of bringing light into the world.
In an October 14, 2026 interview, Miley explained that she’d created the foundation to honor women who’d shaped her life, especially her mother and grandmother. She credited them with encouraging her to help others and teaching her that “your heart is the most important.”
At the gala, Miley connected that family tribute to the women the housing work serves, saying she wanted to honor her “mom and grandma Loretta by supporting women and mothers and survivors of violence.”
