Shakira and Gerard Piqué were back in a Barcelona family court on October 6, this time to argue over a single logistics question: when their sons have short school breaks, who gets on the plane.
The two spent more than five hours at the Ciutat de la Justícia before a family judge. Shakira arrived with her brother Tonino and her lawyer Carmen Varela. Piqué came with Barcelona family attorney Ramón Tamborero.

Lawyers reportedly kept negotiating until the last minute, including with the judge and the prosecutor’s office, and still walked out without a deal. The case is now awaiting a ruling.

Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11, live primarily with Shakira in Miami. Her request would change one piece of the custody agreement a judge ratified in December 2022: instead of the boys making quick transatlantic round trips to Spain for brief holidays, she wants Piqué to fly to Miami. Her team framed it as sharing the load, saying the travel between the two cities “should not fall solely on them, but be shared.”

Long holidays, half of summer and half of Christmas, aren’t part of the fight. The short breaks are.
The two sides tell very different versions of the 2022 bargain. By Shakira’s account, the boys took seven trips to Barcelona in the past year alone, 14 flights of roughly nine hours each, while he has flown to the United States just once in three years. Piqué’s camp says he has kept up monthly nine-day visits to Miami, and that the Barcelona holiday trips were the explicit price he set for letting the children leave Spain.
They met on the “Waka Waka” video set in 2010. Piqué played at 3 World Cups for Spain; Shakira had performed at 4 by July 2026, including that year’s final in New Jersey.

The split that produced all of this went public in June 2022, around the start of his relationship with Clara Chía Martí and the run of diss tracks that followed. Four years later, the question in front of the judge is narrower: on a one-week American break, do two kids cross the Atlantic, or does their father.
