Sabrina Carpenter arrived solo at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 17, pairing a custom Giorgio Armani gown in cobalt blue with Chopard jewelry. The appearance followed September’s casting news: she’ll play Ginger Rogers alongside Tom Holland as Fred Astaire.

Paul King will direct the Sony film, with Margaret Qualley playing Fred’s sister, Adele Astaire. Carpenter’s also set to star in and produce a musical inspired by Alice in Wonderland for Universal.
At the gala, Carpenter supported her friend and collaborator Taylor Swift, whose closing performance capped a night honoring Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and John Carpenter. Carpenter features on Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl.”

The appearance followed 2 other milestones this fall. On September 5, Carpenter won her first Primetime Emmy for the Disney+ Muppet Show special. On September 27, she opened the MTV VMAs with Madonna, performing “Bring Your Love,” which won Best Collaboration.
